Olympia-dō 道 & SAIL for Tomorrow Sustainable Academic Legacy (SAIL) for Tomorrow Hellenic-Japanese Heritage & Civilization in Society & the Modern World
Olympia-dō 道 Principles
The ultimate goal of this venture is to pioneer a global academic innovation ecosystem committed to providing ongoing and sustainable mentoring and capacity-building to the Olympian stakeholders and human resources of tomorrow (TIAS, SFT and 2020 Legacy Vision). For this purpose, we are introducing Olympia-dō道, an expression symbolizing the blend between the Ancient Hellenic and Olympian heritage with the Japanese and Asian culture and virtues, a pathway and a global force for innovation, cross-cultural dialogue, humanity and community regeneration.
The word Olympia, stands for the civilization we have inherited as a way of community development, democratic governance and a social innovation platform through arts, science, technology, civic engagement and social progress in the service of humanity.
The word dō道 , means pathway, the martial artist mindset and discipline, effort and long-term commitment needed to embrace human virtues as a peaceful warrior of social change, progress and prosperity.
The aim of this venture is to preserve and promote the virtues and heritage lost across time and translation, and to create a universal and applied humanitarian framework for community regeneration, social inclusion, innovation, peace-building and resilience. This will be achieved via skills, applied knowledge, long-term commitment and competencies that combine the following Olympia-dō道 restoration enterprise foundations and principles:
Olympia-dō道 Principle #1 Restoration of Ancient Olympia’s humanitarian civilization in the modern world.
Restoration of integrity and integration of the ancient Olympia’s heritage, ecosystem and ecology in the modern world: Uncover the interdisciplinary context of the ancient Olympic Games and create bridges for social innovation and prosperity in the modern world.
Olympia-dō道 Principle #2 Embrace global humanitarian heritage, wisdom and virtues across cultures and civilizations.
Regeneration and preservation of global cultural and humanitarian heritage: Advocate universal virtues and collective wisdom bridges between the East and West, North and South, time and space (Jigoro Kano’s vision, Aristotelian virtues, and humanitarian examples such as those of Gandhi, Mohammad Ali and Mandela).
Olympia-dō道 Principle #3 Trigger innovation, social entrepreneurship, peace-building, personal and community health, sustainable community regeneration and resilience.
Revitalize community resilience and regeneration and social innovation: Infusion of Olympism in society through applied Olympian innovation literacy tailored to local challenges and context.
